Promising Futures Overview
Promising Futures is an exclusively grant funded Washington, DC-based youth development
pipeline of urban youth.
This community-based program prides itself on activating the positive youth development of its
members and building their social and political capital
(in the form of agency) to navigate adolescence as
they transition into adulthood. From 2011-2013, the pipeline secured memorandums of agreement (MOAs) with over 20 youth serving community based agencies, was vetted as an approved community provider within
the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS),
trained 25 high school youth representing five DCPS
and public charter schools as Peer Educators, had 62 middle school youth matriculate through its after-
school curriculum and served up to 900 youth through street outreach, performance-based workshops/events and youth ‘teach-back’ trainings.
